Our History

The Research Institute of Food Engineering for Development (IIAD) is a public institution founded in May 1999 at the Polytechnic University of Valencia as part of the strategy to support R&D in the area of Food Science and Engineering.

The institute activities are focused on those development factors related to a rational use of natural resources, higher quality and food safety and more hygienic, efficient and environmentally friendly manufacturing processes. Different lines of research addressed in the IIAD have allowed the development of suitable technologies for the food industry that have contributed to an improvement in health conditions, well-being and wealth creation.

The IIAD also develops an intense training activity focused on providing technical personnel with the right skills and knowledge. That exchange also aims to promote the collaboration between other universities, institutions and business. This activity has been performed both in Europe and Latin America.
